We no longer permit loud mufflers, open mufflers or lack of mufflers which create sound levels
higher than 85 db at 65' at any time. This is an effort to reduce noise to our neighbors and will be
enforced. We will allow a slight overage in some cases but it will depend on the attitude of each
individual.
If you are suspected of operating your vehicle beyond these limits Park Rangers will call for a db
test to be conducted to assess noise level of your vehicle, which can be done on the trail. You may
also request a noise level test at the front office.
Noise Level Testing Procedure
We test the noise level of you exhaust at an engine rpm between 2500 & 3000 rpm. Our meter is
placed directly behind your exhaust pipe at a distance of 65'.
