Drought & Fire Hazard Restrictions - Updated 10-7-11
The lack of normal rain has caused fire danger levels and the threat of wild fire to be
higher than normal. The following restrictions are heavily enforced.
Everyone must obey these restrictions. Violation will lead to civil and/or criminal
penalties.
Restrictions will be lifted upon receiving adequate rain and lifting of the burn ban.
1. Fires for cooking are now permitted. Campers can have camp fires for cooking.
This includes the use of wood or charcoal and ground fire. Fire must not be large or
bon fires. Campers are required to keep 5 gallons of water near fire site. Report any
out of control or dangerous situations to the park office or park rangers is after hours.
2. (ALL VEHICLES) Your vehicle must be in good working order. Your vehicle is
subject to inspection. This means no fuel leaks, no major oil leaks, no hanging or
damaged exhaust components, no back firing engines and no low hanging exhaust
components, no loose batteries. All vehicles must have mufflers, no open pipes.
Exhaust must exit at the rear of the vehicle. If your exhaust exits under your vehicle
you will not be permitted to enter the park.
3. ATV’s, UTV’s & motorcycles are not required to have spark arrestors.
4. All vehicles must have secure batteries. This means the battery must be
securely mounted in your vehicle. A loose battery can cause sparks and a fire if it
breaks loose from the battery mount.
5. Guests are required to report any violations of these restrictions, fires or smoke
to the park office (830) 798-9820 or Park Ranger office (830) 798-9434 or 911.
