Burnet County has issued a BURN BAN. Ground fires are not allowed. Outdoor welding is not permitted. Fireworks are not allowed. The use of BBQ pits or any object that contains fire or sparks is not permitted. This includes welding, grinding wheels, cutting wheels.
Conditions are very dry and the threat of fire is HIGH. This means no fires of any kind, no use of any object which emmits a flame or spark. This includes welders and torches. READ OUR DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS.
Propane stoves are still allowed but must be elevated and you must have at least 5 gallons of water near by or a working hose bib with hose
Refrain from dirving through tall grass. If you ride and ATV or Motorcycle use a spark arrestor. If you drive a full size make sure your rig runs good and does not back fire. Your vehicle can not have any fuel leask or major oil leaks. Exhaust must exit at the rea of the vehcile, no down pipes. Vehciles must have mufflers. Batteries must be secure and not loose.
Park Rangers or office staff have the right to inspect any vehcile desiring park entry.
If you violate the burn ban and/or cause a wild fire you are criminally & financially repsonsible for the damage it causes. Starting a fire that gets out of control and causes damage carries a Felony charge in the State of Texas.
A wildfire in these dry conditions can burn 1,000 acres every 10 minutes in 25 mph winds.
If you are caught with a camp fire under a burn ban you will be fined up to $500.00. In addition you will receive a citation from law enfrocement.
Restirctions are in place until conditions improve or the burn ban is lifted.
